On This weeks episode, we discussed local concert listings and events happening in our town including a special focus on Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet's production of "Wonderland".

Of course, that came after our opening thoughts on the now infamous Charlie Sheen who has been creating quite a buzz and hype around his zany and at times confusing actions in the main stream media.

After a few chuckles we moved on to this weeks episode.

With the thanks to our friend Chris Reid from UMFM's "Cityscape", we featured an interview with Jacelyn Lobay who is playing Alice in the performance.

"Wonderland is a dynamic re-interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s beloved characters, events and themes that is sure to surprise and delight. The Queen of Hearts, The White Rabbit, and the Mad Hatter are all on hand, displaying generous doses of wit, camp and humour. The surreal and dark elements that lurk at the original story’s fringes are bravely realized in explosive passages of breathtaking dance and innovative multimedia. Shawn Hounsell, acclaimed choreographer and RWB alumnus, has transformed Wonderland into a multi-sensory experience, with edgy and athletic movement, an inventive electro-acoustic soundscape and unexpected visual treats." - (RWB Website)
The world premier of Wonderland is tonight at the Centennial Concert Hall at 7:30 PM. For more details and to purchase tickets you can log on to www.rwb.org

We featured a track from Herman's Hermits called "Mrs. Brown You Have A Lovely Daughter" in spirit of their upcoming show at the Club Regent Casino. More information can be found on the Casino's of Winnipeg's home page.

Natty and I discussed our thoughts on Hey Rosetta's performance at the Pyramid Cabaret two weeks ago, as part of the Winnipeg Folk Festival Concert Series.

The show itself was spectacular and focused primarily on their new album Seeds which was released in February of this year.

Hey Rosetta presented their new album with a fresh combination of guitars, keyboard and violins which blended perfectly and was easy and refreshing to the ears. The band had played in Winnipeg last November which had fans wondering just how different this tour would be.

Not surprising, they show packed all new punches and singles as they preformed in Winnipeg for their second time in four months. It was certainly amazing to see the chemistry on stage between all members of the band.

The sold out event seemed to go over quite well with the sold out crowd, including Natty and myself.

But what was perhaps most surprising was the unexpected cover of Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time. Fans seemed quite impressed and delighted when during their encore Tim Baker invited Mara Pellerin of openers Gramercy Riffs to sing with him.

We featured this recording from their stop over in Vancouver on this weeks show to capture the spirit of discussion.

During the Hey Rosetta show, we also had a candid conversation with openers Gramercy Riff's during set breaks. The band was very excited to be on tour with Hey Rosetta! And were excited to explore the west cost for the first time. If you missed their show you can check out their Myspace and learn more about them by clicking here.

We will see you next week on Wake Up Winnipeg where we will bring in sports correspondent Victor Jarman to discuss Winnipeg sports news and get his thoughts on the controversy surrounding the return of the Winnipeg Jets.

Until next time, keep on Winning.
