This week was a very busy week for Wake Up Winnipeg.

After our news and event listings we took the time to fill our listeners in to some upcoming events happening within Winnipeg, and also focused on a new project launched by the NHLPA and Blackberry.

We talked to Big Ol Entertainment, the company responsible for bringing in Norm Macdonald to Winnipeg and found out what we can expect from his show at the Burton Cummings Theater.

Nancy Gregory was our second guest on this weeks episode. She is responsible for organizing the 2012 Move 'N Groove-a-Thon taking place at the Red River Exhibition grounds in support of The Movement Centre of Manitoba. 

During our conversation Nancy pointed us towards a video containing more information about the Move 'N Groove-a-Thon:






Finally we talked to Colin Campbell, Director of Corporate Partnerships about the NHLPA Players PlayBook video series.
Whether it’s family life or life on the road, shopping trips or autograph sessions, five NHL star players have been given a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with a simple goal: film everything.

The NHLPA Players’ PlayBook is giving exclusive access into the lives of five of the league’s most engaging players.

NHLPA and BlackBerry have teamed up for the first of its kind video series that features off-ice action captured by the players themselves.

The new series features footage recorded exclusively on BlackBerry PlayBook tablets in high-definition format and edited into short video episodes that are updated daily at www.nhlpa.com/playbook

Creating the ultimate power play, the minute and a half long episodes feature five NHLPA members:

·         Scott Hartnell (Philadelphia Flyers)

·         Bobby Ryan (Anaheim Ducks)

·         Joffrey Lupul (Toronto Maple Leafs)

·         Martin Biron (New York Rangers)

·         Michael Grabner (New York Islanders)
